My name is Derek Meier and I am a graduate of Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA) and a licensed massage therapist since 2017. I always knew I wanted to work with people and make a difference in their lives, but still hold true to my values of: freedom, flexibility, compassion and being health conscious. When I discovered the world of massage I felt like my path was opening, I found direction – and I started running.

Attending school at SWIHA was a great start, it taught me the foundations and basics of the body - the anatomy, the physiology, and the nuances that make our body function. Coupled with a wide variety of different modalities to become a well-rounded therapist including: Swedish, traditional Thai full body, sports massage and stretching, Hawaiian style Lomi Lomi, East Indian head massage, cranial sacral and hydrotherapy (hot/cold therapy). These different styles are part of my rich toolkit that allows me to be creative, intuitive and blend styles together to better fit the needs of my clients.

My specialties are in restructural work using myotherapy and deep tissue massage - retraining and guiding the muscle back to homeostasis. I use techniques of myotherapy to stretch and articulate the body to create space, movement and flexibility. Deep tissue provides me with tools to reach the inner layers of muscle and fascia. These slow, focused, relaxing strokes give me stability to safely work down the muscle from the superficial base level to the deeper inner lying muscles. These goal oriented modalities give my clients the result they are looking for and can provide lasting relief.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from my education and personal experience is the importance of connecting with people, empathy and the nurturing quality of a healing touch. I value building strong relationships with my clients so that I understand their needs and goals not only from a physical perspective, but from mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects as well. I believe with my positive attitude, mindful approach and skillful touch I can help guide and support clients to a balanced and healthy state.
